Acceptable Use & Content Policy

The Card Genie lets you create personalised cards with AI and share or post them. We want it to be a fun, safe place. This policy explains what you may not create or send, how we enforce it, and what to do if you receive a card that breaks these rules. It sits alongside our Terms of Service.

1. What you must not create or send

You may not use The Card Genie to create, generate, upload or send content that:

• Is hateful or discriminatory - racist slurs, or content that attacks or demeans people based on race, ethnicity, religion, nationality, disability, age, sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
• Threatens or incites violence - death threats, threats of harm, or content that encourages or glorifies violence against a person or group.
• Harasses or bullies - content designed to intimidate, humiliate, alarm, or target an individual.
• Is sexual or pornographic - sexually explicit imagery or text, or nudity.
• Sexualises or endangers minors - any sexual content involving, or depicting, anyone under 18. This is never permitted and is reported to the authorities.
• Impersonates others- pretending to be someone else, or using a person's photo or likeness without their consent.
• Misleads with a real person's likeness- creating deceptive or harmful depictions of a real person (for example a misleading deepfake), or using someone's likeness to defame, harass or embarrass them.
• Infringes intellectual property- copyrighted characters, logos, brands or artwork you don't have the right to use.
• Is illegal, deceptive or harmful - fraud, scams, phishing, spam, or anything that breaks the law.

Photos of other people.Only upload photos you have the right to use. If a real person is identifiable in your photo, you must have their permission, and a parent or guardian's permission for anyone under 18.

2. How we keep cards safe

We use a combination of automated and human safeguards:

• Text screening.The words you enter (greetings, names, prompts and messages) are automatically screened before a card is generated. Content that breaches this policy is blocked, and you'll be asked to edit it.
• Image safeguards. Our AI image providers apply their own safety filters, which refuse to generate certain unsafe or infringing imagery.
• Reporting. Anyone who receives a card can report it to us (see below), and we review every report.
• Removal and suspension. We may remove any card and suspend or terminate accounts that breach this policy, without prior notice.

No automated system is perfect. If something gets through, please report it - that's the fastest way for us to act.

3. How to report a card

If you receive a card that's offensive, threatening, or otherwise breaks this policy, you can report it in two ways:

• Use the "Report this card" link at the bottom of the card you received. Choose a reason and add any details - it goes straight to our team.
• Or email us at support@thecardgenie.com with the card link and what's wrong.

If you feel threatened or believe a crime has been committed, please also contact your local police. In an emergency, call 999 (UK).

3a. Reporting intellectual property infringement

If you believe a card or other content made through our service infringes your intellectual property (for example your copyright, trade mark, or a photograph you own), email support@thecardgenie.com with the heading "IP infringement" and include:

• a description of the work or right you say has been infringed;
• the link to, or a copy of, the infringing card or content;
• your contact details;
• a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised, and that the information you have given is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorised to act for them.

On receipt of a valid notice we may remove or disable access to the content, and we may pass your notice (including your identity) to the person who created the content so they can respond.

4. Threatening or malicious cards & law enforcement

We take threatening, harassing and malicious use seriously. When you create a card we keep records associated with the account and payment used to make it. While we never publish a sender's identity, we will cooperate with the police and other authorities where the law requires or permits it.

If you are the victim of a threatening or malicious card, report it to the police. Once they make a formal, lawful request to us, we will work with them and can help trace the account and payment details linked to the card, in line with our Privacy Policy and applicable UK law.

5. Consequences of breaching this policy

Depending on the severity, breaching this policy may result in a card being removed, a refund being withheld, your account being suspended or terminated, and - where the law requires - a report to the relevant authorities. Serious or illegal content is escalated immediately.
